STEP 3: Cleaning and maintenance of the Heylo espresso module
Proper cleaning is very important for the life of the coffee maker - but certainly also for the taste of the coffee!
Fortunately, daily cleaning is easy and quick to complete!
Listen to Lindy guide you through cleaning the Heylo espresso module

Introduction to cleaning
- It is important to clean your equipment regularly. Both because it keeps your equipment in good condition, but also because a lack of cleaning can affect the taste of the coffee.
- You should complete this cleaning procedure every day. We recommend doing it at the end of the day and letting the coffee container soak overnight.
Step-by-step
- In the display, under the main menu you will find maintenance. Press it and then press the backflush menu item.
- Put a blind filter in the handle. For general cleaning during the day, just put the blind filter in without anything. If the machine is to be turned off after cleaning, put a little cleaning agent in the blind filter. After you have backflushed with cleaning agent, you must backflush without cleaning agent to flush the system of soap residue.
- After you have run a backflush with and without cleaning, we recommend that you run a regular flush by pressing the brew head.
- Take a "toothbrush" and scrub the brew head to remove coffee grounds and coffee oils to ensure that they don't burn and give a bad taste.
- The last thing you do is remove the filter basket in the portafilter and clean it underneath. We recommend using Wipz from Urnex, but you can also use a damp cloth. This should be done daily to keep it clean and tidy.
- Put the filter basket back on and you're ready to brew again.
- We recommend that you soak the handle weekly in boiling water with a little espresso machine cleaner to soften oil and residue that may settle inside. It is important that the water only covers the metal part and does not reach the handle itself, to avoid it breaking.

Service and maintenance
The machine is easy to service and keep running. It is connected online, so both us in the roastery and technicians at the factory in Sweden can see how the machine is doing. This means you can pinpoint exactly if something is not as it should be.
If you still have problems with your machine, you are always welcome to call or write to us and we will look into it.
Have fun!
