Coffee of the Month: La Catarata Natural

It is both familiar and new

You probably know La Catarata from our selection, but we can guarantee that you haven't tried this one before.

La Catarata Natural – named so because of the natural processing of the bean instead of the black honey processing our original La Catarata has.

La Catarata Natural is a coffee from Costa Rica – more specifically from the Chirripó region, where it is grown and fermented by our partners at Café Rivense. Instead of the caramel-like flavor typically found in black honey processed coffees, La Catarata Natural has more fruity notes of juicy red apple and dried apricot.

... but what is natural processing?

Natural processed coffee is coffee berries that have been dried exactly as they are – that's why it's called "natural". It really just means that the coffee berry is dried with both the skin and pulp on.

This is different from honey processed coffee, where you remove the skin but not the pulp while the berry dries. And with washed coffee? Yes, there you remove everything but the bean before it is dried.
